One Comment/Chat After The Game

RIP classical chess

No – I don’t believe it.  This is the same nonsense that was spewed after the 1927 Match between Capablanca and Alekhine.  Chess was “doomed” because of the boring draws and chess was “played out”.  No – Chess was not played out.  In that 1927 match one very narrow variation (not popular and rarely played today) of the Queen’s Gambit Declined was repeated game after game.  The “played out” only refers to the temperament of the players involved.  There has been much development in chess since 1927 and I feel there will be long after 2018.  Something does have to change, but I believe chess itself is doing just fine.
