Riga Grand Prix 2019 :

The second stage of the FIDE Grand Prix  July 11 – 25 in the Latvian capital Riga. 16 grandmasters take part in the competition, which will be held on the knockout system. 

The opponents will play two games with classical time control. In case of equality in the score, the fight will continue on the tie-break in speed chess.
The 2019 FIDE Grand Prix series consists of four tournaments. A total of 21 chess players take part in the series, each of whom will perform at three stages of the Grand Prix. Two winners will be eligible to compete in the 2020 Candidates Tournament.
The first stage was held in mid-May in Moscow. It ended with the victory of Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi who beat compatriot Alexander Grischuk in the final.  Ian Nepomniachtchi leads the FIDE Grand Prix standings with 9 points… Grischuk (7),  Radosław Wojtaszek (5), Hikaru Nakamura (3), Daniil Dubov (2)  Peter Svidler (2),  Wei Yi (2)  Wesley So (1).
The prize fund of each stage is 130,000. An additional $280,000. will be distributed after the entire Grand Prix.
 
July 12-13 – Round 1, July 14 – Tie-break
July 15-16 – Round 2, July 17 – Tie-break
July 18-19 – Semi-final, July 20 – Tie-break
July 22-23 – Final, July 24 – Tie-break.
July 21 is a rest day.

The games start at 3:00 pm. The games will be broadcast live at www.worldchess.com.
