The Magnus Carlsen Invitational/Day Two

The Magnus Carlsen Invitational/Day Two

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave  3 – Anish Giri 1

Game 1 started MVL  [White] 1.d4 which is not his normal play and even doubted by his choice of his opening.

The middlegame looked drawish yet MVL kept pushing and securing the full point in a great end game ..

Game 2 [Black] MVL being a Gruenfeld player  played the Slav , which is not his normal Opening response .

Round 3 and 4 the games were drawn but it was enough for Maxime to score 3 points for the winning the match.
