The 41st World Amateur Go Championship 2020 will be held in Vladivostok, Russia. This decision was made at the 38th International Go Federation Board and General Assembly meeting in Guiyang in 2017. The Russian Go Federation qualified to host the championship of Asia’s biggest strategy game. May 28 -June 1 2020.
For the first time in its history the World Amateur Go Championship 2020 will be held outside of Asia. It took place before in China, Korea, Japan and Thailand. The championship involves 77 International Go Federation countries and territories, with a national champion representing their country. The championship provides 8 winning places, the winner receives the title of the 41st World Amateur Go Champion. The prize fund is not provided. According to the regulations of the World Go Cup, the participation of professionals is prohibited.
